While Adoptee Voyages supports adult adoptees process their identity, we recognize the need to continue supporting parents of adopted children. PATCH is a 6-week workshop held by professional therapists who support adoptees in the Greater Seattle area. While the parents meet with the therapist (who also is an adoptee) to learn about the trauma their children experienced, the children gather in a seperate area to build community and relationships.
Adoptee Voyages believes this community group is powerful, because it helps parents gain insight on how to best support their children, while the children are learning that they aren't alone in their adoption journey from a young age. Having this group is setting a great example for therapists, communities, and parents who adopt on how to continue transforming the reality for younger adoptees.
